The Most over used term in the 21st century is millennials. Millennials are tech savvy and has very less attention span. They have never shopped without a smartphone. They have fundamentally different buying habits than their parents or grandparents. And when it comes to advice about getting The Next Big Thing, they rely more on peers than on ads. So, how can a product get their attention?

Sprout Social reported that consumers are 70% more likely to convert into paying customers after a positive interaction.

“By leveraging on your delighted customers, you can attract higher quality leads to become sales qualified leads.”

Most of the millennials usually tend to read reviews to buy something they want. So, how to make a product that gets their attention? Maybe making a product that they actually need, Yeah everyone does that but how to stand out… Modern Problems needs Modern Solution. So here is the best part.

How to grab millennial’s attention 101 -

  1. Using memes.
  2. Use millennial Lingo.
  3. Be Honest
  4. Gamification.
  5. Digital Avatar.

Using memes –

Millennials would love to watch memes in their daily used apps and also increases engagement since we are providing relatable content. Their unique experiences will change the ways we buy and sell, forcing companies to examine how they do business for decades to come up with new ideas.

Imagine an Ed-tech startup teaching students through memes. In the year 2020, we all know how boring it is to see classes on laptop screen. Introducing memes, with creativity and innovation they can make things more interesting and easy for kids to understand a difficult topic.

Use millennial Lingo –

Words like OP (Over powered), Boomer, lit are the new words used by Gen — Z, people who speak in this way have more connect to each other since they think that they are similar to them. For Example — If they have achieved something instead of a simple congratulations you have unlocked this level instead of that we can write Abhishek OP — Level Unlocked.

Being Honest –

This might be difficult for companies to digest but the era is gone when people used to get attracted by the axe advertisement where a guy applies the AXE deo and every girl in the world falls for him. Now the time is gone where millennials don’t want to see such stupid advertisement to use your product. Most recent one was WhiteHat.jr, if you ask any computer science student he will tell how difficult it is to build in an app. (Not from app building tools) But the advertisement tells that a six year old boy has built an app and the investors are fighting to invest in his app.

A good example of Being Honest as a brand. Recently I came across an advertisement of Arctic Fox where it says the good things about a bag, what is it used for etc. and also tells you we are not selling you a product that attract girls.

Digital Avatar —

There are two types of world.

  1. Normal World — Reality.
  2. Digital World — The Internet.

In the normal world we already have an identity who everyone knows and we all know that millennials are very particular regarding there looks and most of them do have insecurities with look, thanks to Instagram models and Photoshop.

Digital Avatar gives a new identification for the internet which looks really good. When Bitmoji was launched by snapchat, People were obsessed with it and then, Facebook and apple did the same thing. Cartoon avatars let you feel like you’re a character in a story.

Gamification –

Gamification like unlocking level going from beginner to advanced, Reward Points for completing small task and redeem it, competing with friends or by telling a story.

Suppose it is an e-learning (Digital University) app you can tell a story like Abhishek (user) is in engineering final year (according to his educational Background) who is interested in Marketing (the field he opt to learn), he has enrolled in XYZ marketing course in XYZ App wants to achieve his goals by completing the course. Do it. A progress goal can be added to show how much he has completed.
